Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) successfully concluded its highly anticipated 2023 #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop, aimed at equipping journalists with enhanced digital communication and social media skills.

The three-day event, which attracted over 20 journalists from various editorial sections, focused on mobile and multimedia journalism.

Sponsored by NLNG, the annual capacity-building workshop was organized in collaboration with The Journalism Clinic, a renowned institution in the field.

During the closing ceremony held last Thursday, Mr. Andy Odeh, the General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative.

He revealed that the workshop was conceived in 2015 with the vision of providing journalists with the necessary tools and skills to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of digital communication and social media.

NLNG recognizes the importance of embracing new technologies and platforms to effectively convey stories that resonate with the Nigerian populace in today’s fast-paced digital age.

Mr. Odeh highlighted NLNG’s commitment to its stakeholders and emphasized the symbiotic relationship between their success and the company’s growth.

He stated, “Our stakeholders are not just partners in our current success; they are an integral part of our journey towards greater heights. We aim to create a symbiotic relationship where both parties thrive together.”

NLNG’s commitment to capacity building was further reiterated, showcasing the company’s belief in the immense potential of its stakeholders.

Recognizing the influential role journalists play in shaping narratives and public opinion, NLNG sought to empower them by providing the necessary skills to change their own stories and, consequently, shape the nation’s stories.

To deliver this workshop, NLNG collaborated with renowned journalist Dan Mason and partnered with The Journalism Clinic, led by the esteemed Taiwo Obe.

These experts shared their wealth of knowledge and experience, guiding participants through the intricacies of digital communication and social media.

The #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop, which commenced in 2015 and experienced a brief hiatus, resumed in 2021.

Since then, over 70 journalists have been trained, reinforcing their digital communication and social media competencies.

Undoubtedly, this workshop has played a significant role in empowering journalists, enabling them to thrive in the ever-evolving digital era.

NLNG’s steadfast dedication to capacity building further underlines its commitment to the growth and success of its stakeholders and the nation.

NLNG, is owned by four shareholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (49%), Shell Gas B.V. (25.6%), TotalEnergies Gaz & Electricite Holdings (15%), and Eni International N.A. N. V. S.àr.l (10.4%).
