A heartbreaking incident occurred at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Odan, as a young Nigerian female doctor, Dr. Vwaere Diaso, tragically lost her life in an elevator crash.

Witnesses have alleged negligence on the part of the hospital management and raised concerns about the possible embezzlement of funds designated for repairing the faulty elevator.

Dr. Vwaere Diaso, a recent graduate of Babcock University, was on the verge of completing her housemanship at the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos, with only two weeks left before her term would have concluded.

However, fate took a cruel turn as she met her untimely demise while using the ill-fated elevator.

According to reports, the accident occurred while Dr. Diaso was on her way to collect her meal from a dispatch rider. Tragically, the elevator malfunctioned and plummeted from the 10th floor to the ground, resulting in her death.

The incident has sparked outrage among the medical community and the public at large, with many pointing fingers at the hospital’s management for their alleged negligence and failure to address the long-standing issues with the elevator. Social media has been flooded with expressions of grief and anger, as well as demands for accountability and justice.

A Twitter user, Big Amara, expressed her dismay in a tweet, stating, “A doctor who had just 2 weeks to complete her housemanship just died in general hospital(Odan, Lagos island) due to poor management and negligence!!! The elevator she was in, fell from 10th floor to the ground! Video was so painful to watch.”

Dr. Olawale Ogunlana, another Twitter user, shared his personal experience at the hospital, revealing a history of maintenance issues with the elevators. He wrote, “I completed my internship in General Hospital Odan Lagos and I’m aware of their ZERO maintenance attitude. Elevators show tons and signs of problems before collapsing. Now a Doctor is gone! A whole life gone because of wickedness and corruption. Someone’s head(s) must roll.”

Queen Eddie, a close friend of Dr. Diaso, poured her heart out on social media, grieving the loss of her dear friend. She expressed the pain and disbelief at losing someone so young and promising.
