Last weekend witnessed the Nigerian Content Stakeholders Retreat, hosted by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) at its plant complex in Bonny, reaffirming the organization’s resolute dedication to the advancement of local content in Nigeria.

The three-day event served as a vital forum for consolidating NLNG’s global competitiveness as a leading LNG company, committed to building a better Nigeria, in alignment with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), responsible for overseeing Nigerian Content Development.

During the Nigerian Content and Award Ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the NCMDB, Engr Simbi Wabote, emphasized the need for increased gas supply to the NLNG Plant.

He pledged support for the company by approving third-party gas injectors and endorsing new deepwater gas projects.

He also acknowledged NLNG’s strides in promoting Nigerian Content, applauding the transformation from a management team comprising 90 percent expatriates to one entirely comprised of Nigerians.

In his address, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Mshebila, underscored the significance of the retreat and award ceremony in reiterating NLNG’s commitment to local content development.

He highlighted the company’s consistent advocacy for the development of indigenous economic capabilities and the cultivation of a self-reliant and competitive workforce, contributing to sustainable national development.

Dr. Mshelbila emphasized NLNG’s focus on fostering technology transfer and local capacity building, particularly through collaborations with Nigerian manufacturers, empowering local businesses, and promoting import substitution with domestically produced spares and parts.

Noteworthy achievements of NLNG include comprehensive skills development programs, scholarships for local talent cultivation, and active engagement with indigenous vendors, promoting the growth of Nigerian enterprises and bolstering local economies.

The company has also achieved the impressive feat of complete Nigerianization of its management team and a workforce comprising over 95% Nigerians, a testament to its commitment to global standards and local empowerment.

During the award ceremony, NLNG recognized outstanding local vendors, lauding the NCDMB for its transparent regulatory frameworks, crucial for promoting ethical business practices and fostering sector growth.

Notable among the honored partners were EVOMEC Global Services Limited, Coleman Cables and Wires, A.O Brownson Enterprises, Alfred Temile LPG Tanker, and Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited.
