The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail by an Abuja High Court sitting at Maitama.

The bail, set at N300 million, was awarded by Justice Hamza Muazu.

In addition to the bail amount, the court directed Emefiele to provide two sureties, both of whom must be residents within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The sureties are also required to possess landed property within the Maitama District.

The court has scheduled November 28 to initiate a full-blown hearing on the six-count charge brought against Emefiele by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Emefiele, who had been detained, was earlier ordered by the court to surrender all his travelling documents.
