The Plateau State Government has unveiled plans to inaugurate the foundation laying ceremony of the National Film Village, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at propelling the state to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

The Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven, led journalists on a tour of the project sites in Kuru and Mararaban Jama’a within Jos South LGA, revealing ambitious aspirations for the film village.

Laven emphasized that this initiative, touted as Africa’s unparalleled endeavor, will serve as a creative hub nurturing emerging talents not only within Plateau State but also across the continent.

The National Film Village is poised to redefine both local and global landscapes with cutting-edge music and movie studios, fostering equitable wealth distribution and providing a platform to showcase the burgeoning talents of Plateau’s youth on a global scale.

Moreover, in a bid to sustain housing development, the state has finalized arrangements for the construction of Smart City Housing Units catering to various income groups – a comprehensive approach to address the housing needs of low, middle, and high-income earners.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s proactive stance has been highlighted by Laven, stressing the governor’s commitment to turning his vision of transforming Plateau State into a hub for entertainment, peace, and tourism into a tangible reality.

With international musician Wyclef Jean scheduled to headline a peace concert on December 28, 2023, followed by the foundation laying ceremony of the Film Village, momentum is building for rapid development.

The Commissioner of Lands and Survey Town Planning, Peter Nyam Gai, emphasized the significance of these initiatives in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to bolster the state’s economy. Highlighting a clear commitment to meeting project timelines, he underscored the government’s readiness to swiftly activate these projects for immediate implementation.

Echoing this sentiment, Arch. Hart Bankat, the General Manager of Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMBD), expressed contentment with the secured sites for these monumental projects. Bankat reaffirmed their alignment with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s strategic mandate to execute the greater Jos master plan.

The impending launch of the National Film Village and Smart City projects not only promises substantial revenue generation but also positions Plateau State as a burgeoning epicenter of tourism and entertainment, poised to capture both national and international attention.

The ambitious vision set forth by the state administration aims to redefine Plateau, marking its ascent as the headquarters of entertainment in Africa.
