The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the timetable for its primary elections in preparation for the upcoming by-elections to fill vacant positions in the national and state houses of assembly.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated February 3 for the nationwide by-elections.

Umar Bature, the national organizing secretary of the PDP, outlined the details in a notice on Tuesday.

According to the timetable, the expression of interest and nomination forms for the senate, house of representatives, and state houses of assembly will be priced at N3.5 million, N2.5 million, and N600,000, respectively.

The sale of these forms is scheduled to commence on December 28, 2023, and conclude on January 3, 2024. Aspirants will undergo screening on January 4, with the primary elections set to take place on January 8.

Bature specified that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) interested in contesting any of the elections are only required to purchase the expression of interest form, as the nomination is free for them.

Additionally, young aspirants aged between 25 and 40 are entitled to a 50 percent discount on the nomination form when purchasing the expression of interest forms.
