Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has pledged to carry on and complete the projects initiated by his predecessor, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Governor Aiyedatiwa made this commitment shortly after taking the oath of office, administered by the Chief Judge, Odusola Olusegun, in a solemn ceremony held in Akure.

Acknowledging the remarkable strides made by the late Governor Akeredolu, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the need to honor and fulfill the vision set by the departed leader.

He expressed gratitude for Akeredolu’s impactful initiatives, citing ongoing and completed landmark projects that have significantly contributed to the state’s development.

“Our leader, during his time, embarked on landmark projects, many of which have been completed, and some are ongoing. I now have the burden to complete them. It is necessary for us to acknowledge the achievements of Akeredolu. His records of performance are monumental,” stated Governor Aiyedatiwa.

The new governor affirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the people in every decision taken by the administration.

He acknowledged the heavy heart with which he assumed the role following Akeredolu’s untimely death, describing it as a devastating shock to the people of the state and a colossal loss to Nigeria.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Akeredolu, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the late governor’s courage, vision, and commitment to truth, even when faced with challenges.

He commended Akeredolu’s contributions to the establishment of Amotekun, which has enhanced security in the state, and lauded his legacies in health, infrastructure, and industrial development.

“The events in the last few days are a watershed in the history of the state. This event has placed a burden on all of us. We have the responsibility to continue to sustain Akeredolu’s legacy, which was good governance,” Governor Aiyedatiwa added.
