The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has swiftly responded to media reports suggesting an imminent increase in the price of petrol to N1,200 per litre.

Amidst the circulating rumors on social media platforms, the NNPC has categorically denied any plans to raise the fuel price.

In a rejoinder issued by NNPC’s Group Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the company clarified its stance on the matter.

The rejoinder stated, “NNPC Ltd emphasises it has not clashed with any party. The Punch headline is deemed unfortunate. The publication sought confirmation on the alleged subsidy reduction, to which NNPC responded that the subsidy has been entirely removed.”

The clarification comes as a response to widespread speculations that the cost of petrol was set to increase, causing concern among the public already grappling with economic challenges.
