In response to the worsening security conditions in the Mangu Local Government Area, the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang has declared a 24-hour curfew.

The decision, announced by the governor’s spokesperson, Gyang Bere, comes after extensive consultations with relevant security agencies.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the primary objective of the curfew is to avert a potential breakdown of law and order within the local government area.

He expressed concern over persistent attempts by certain individuals to disrupt the peace, despite ongoing government efforts to counteract the activities of extremist elements.

Bere, in a statement issued on Tuesday, conveyed the governor’s directive, urging residents to adhere to the sit-at-home order.

The curfew strictly limits the movement of individuals within the Mangu LGA, with exceptions made only for those engaged in essential duties.

The governor extended sympathies to the families affected by the security challenges, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the state.

Governor Mutfwang pledged that the curfew’s duration would be subject to regular review based on improvements in the security situation within the locality.
