Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed deep concern and condemnation over the recent spate of insecurity in the state, describing the incidents as devastating.

The governor’s statement comes in the wake of the kidnapping of six pupils, three teachers, and a driver from Apostolic Faith School, following the tragic killing of two traditional rulers in the state.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, Governor Oyebanji conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased traditional rulers, the affected communities, and the entire Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The governor emphasized the gravity of the recent events and reiterated his commitment to the security of lives and properties in the state.

The statement read, “I want to express my deep condolences to the immediate families of the late monarchs, their communities and the entire members of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers for the loss of these selfless royal fathers.”

Governor Oyebanji also addressed the kidnapping incident involving pupils and teachers from Apostolic Faith School, assuring the public that security agents have been mobilized to ensure the safe rescue of the victims. He conveyed his instructions to the security forces, emphasizing the need for a swift and successful operation.

“Security agents are currently working hard to rescue them. They have my instructions to ensure the victims are saved from the clutches of their abductors and reunited with their families very soon and unhurt,” the governor affirmed.

Reflecting on his administration’s dedication to security, Governor Oyebanji highlighted Ekiti State’s consistent ranking as one of the most peaceful states in the country with a low crime rate. He pledged to continue prioritizing the safety and well-being of residents.

“As your governor, this new turn of events in our dear State is a very devastating and sad one for me; this is because security has always held a significant priority in our administration and this can be seen in our State being consistently adjudged one of the most peaceful with the low crime rate in the entire Federation,” the statement concluded.
