The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action against two pizza outlets in Abuja for reportedly using expired dough blend seasoning.

Ozigis Abdulsalam, the FCT director of NAFDAC, revealed the agency’s actions in a statement issued on Friday.

According to Abdulsalam, the FCT department of NAFDAC conducted an inspection of the pizza outlets following intelligence information received.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the outlets were using expired dough blend seasoning and deep ham slices in the preparation of their pizzas.

Such practices, Abdulsalam emphasized, constitute a serious violation of best practices and pose significant risks to food safety and public health.

As a consequence, the expired ingredients were confiscated, and the pizza outlets faced penalties for their actions.

Additionally, the outlets are required to submit an undertaking committing to refrain from engaging in such poor practices in the future.
