The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has taken decisive action against Sahad Store, a prominent supermarket located in the Garki area of Abuja, over allegations of price manipulation.

The management of Sahad Store stands accused of shortchanging customers by charging prices different from those displayed on the shelves. This practice, if proven true, violates consumer rights and undermines fair competition in the market.

The enforcement action by the FCCPC comes just twenty-four hours after President Bola Tinubu announced plans to address factors contributing to the ongoing food crisis in the country, signaling a commitment to protecting consumers’ interests.

Led by FCCPC Acting Executive Vice Chairman, Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, the enforcement team sealed the supermarket premises in response to preliminary findings indicating irregularities in pricing practices.

Addressing journalists on the sidelines of the event, Abdullahi affirmed the commission’s commitment to upholding consumer rights and ensuring transparency and fairness in commercial transactions. He stated that Sahad Store would remain sealed pending the completion of further investigation into the allegations.
