Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has taken decisive action against NBHH Engineering Company by terminating a road project contract following allegations of negligence and prolonged delays.

The governor made the announcement during an unannounced visit to the project site in Okpoko on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Expressing his disappointment with the company’s performance, Soludo lambasted NBHH Engineering for failing to complete nine roads spanning 14.053 kilometers within the stipulated timeframe.

Addressing the supervisor of the project, Soludo remarked, “This road was supposed to be ended by June last year. Eight months afterward, you are yet to complete it. You don’t have the capacity to do the job. The job was supposed to last for nine months and you were adequately mobilized.”

Highlighting the significant delay in project delivery, Soludo emphasized the incompetence of the company and underscored the government’s dissatisfaction despite providing a 50 per cent mobilization fee. He stressed that such prolonged delays were unacceptable, especially considering the critical importance of the road infrastructure for the community.

“This is February 20, and you are supposed to have delivered the job. It shows that you are totally incompetent to do the job. After we paid you 50 per cent mobilization. There is nowhere in the country that 50 per cent is paid. Here and here, this contract is terminated, and you can remove your things here, and tomorrow we will know who will complete this project,” Soludo declared firmly.
