Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, has refuted rumors circulating on various online platforms suggesting his departure from the party.

In a statement issued by the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi denounced the news item as the handiwork of mischief-makers.

The statement, signed by Obi’s Media Aide, Michael Jude Nwolisa, expressed outright dismissal of the “trending fake and fallacious news story” alleging Obi’s intention to part ways with the Labour Party.

“This is not true and it did not originate from Obi or the Obidient Movement but from mischief-makers bent on sowing the seed of discord in the party,” the statement clarified.

Highlighting the ongoing attempts to disrupt the Labour Party, the POMR emphasized that such actions aimed to undermine the party’s cohesion and disrupt its commitment to rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.

“Presently our principal is preoccupied with making Nigeria work, not on partisan politics which ended on October 26, 2023, when the Supreme Court of the land took their final decision on the general elections,” the statement affirmed.

The POMR assured Nigerians, particularly members of the Obidient family, that Peter Obi’s commitment to the Labour Party remained steadfast.

It reiterated Obi’s focus on creating an environment where democracy thrives according to defined principles, emphasizing the need to combat the prevalent impunity and rascality in the country.

“Peter Obi therefore would like to assure Nigerians, particularly the Obidient family, that his way with Labour is unshaken and intact and that the struggle to rescue Nigeria from the criminal gangs holding it down will not stop until it’s achieved through the will of the Nigerian people,” the statement concluded.
