The remains of Herbert Wigwe, former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, alongside his wife Chizoba and son Chizi, have arrived in Nigeria from the United States.
They were among the six individuals who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in California on February 9, 2023.
In addition to the Wigwe family, the crash claimed the life of Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, and two crew members.
The arrival of their remains marks a solemn moment for their families, friends, and the Nigerian business community.
The funeral rites for the Wigwe family had commenced earlier in the week, with preparations underway to honor their memory and bid them farewell.
Their bodies arrived at Omueke in the Isiokpo community of Ikwerre Local Government Area at noon on Friday, ahead of a wake-keeping ceremony. The final interment is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
