The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken action against centre referee Mohammed Gata, suspending him from officiating further matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as reported by Okay.ng.

Chairman of the Referee Committee, Mohammed Ameenu, confirmed the decision in a memo addressed to Gata.

The suspension of Gata comes into immediate effect and follows his alleged poor performance during the matchday 24 encounter between Katsina United and Heartland at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium over the past weekend.

During the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams, Gata’s officiating was reportedly deemed below the required standard, prompting the disciplinary action by the NFF.
