The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has levied a hefty fine of N7 million on Enyimba Football Club for multiple infractions during their match against Doma United on matchday 24.

In a series of tweets on Thursday, the NPFL board outlined three breaches of the league framework during the encounter, which concluded with a 1-0 scoreline at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba last Sunday.

Enyimba FC was found guilty of failing “to provide adequate and effective security” and allowing “encroachment onto the pitch at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba by unauthorized persons.” For each of these offenses, the club was fined N1 million.

Furthermore, the league body imposed an additional N5 million fine on Enyimba for the “disruption of live broadcast” due to unsporting behavior and the failure to control the crowd during the match.

As a consequence of their actions, Enyimba FC will play their next three home games at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba without fans.

In a parallel development, Doma United was also penalized for failing “to ensure the proper conduct of their players & officials” during the same fixture. The club was fined N2 million as a result.

Both Enyimba FC and Doma United have been given a 48-hour window from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions imposed by the NPFL board.
