NBS Report: Kogi, Rivers, and Kwara Lead in Food Inflation Rates in Nigeria

The latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has highlighted Kogi, Rivers, and Kwara states as the top-ranking regions with the highest food inflation rates in Nigeria.

According to the NBS Consumer Price Index and Inflation report published on Friday, Kogi recorded a staggering 46.32 percent food inflation rate, followed closely by Rivers at 44.34 percent, and Kwara at 43.05 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Conversely, Bauchi (31.46 percent), Plateau (32.56 percent), and Taraba (33.23 percent) registered the slowest rise in food inflation, offering some relief compared to the national average.

In a separate analysis, Kogi, Oyo, and Bauchi emerged as the states with the highest all-items inflation rates annually in Nigeria. Kogi led with 37.98 percent, followed by Oyo at 36.60 percent, and Bauchi at 35.62 percent of headline inflation, year-on-year.

On the flip side, Borno (26.28 percent), Taraba (26.72 percent), and Benue (27.40 percent) recorded the slowest rise in headline inflation rates on a year-on-year basis.

Earlier, Okay.ng reported Nigeria’s headline inflation surged to 31.70 percent, with food inflation reaching a peak of 37.92 percent.
