The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old man, Isyaku Babale, for the alleged murder of his brother in the Anguwan Dawaki area of the state.

According to Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, the arrest followed a report received by the division regarding the incident.

Wakil disclosed that the altercation ensued when the suspect confronted his brother over the use of cold patch liquid, commonly known as sholi, due to its unpleasant odor.

The confrontation escalated, resulting in the suspect fatally stabbing his brother in the belly.

Tragically, the victim, rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), was pronounced dead upon arrival by medical personnel.

Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Auwal Musa, has ordered an independent investigation into the incident to ascertain additional motives behind the suspect’s actions before proceeding with prosecution.

“They rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but he was certified dead by a medical doctor,” Wakil said.

“The development prompted the detectives to initiate a manhunt for the suspect, who was apprehended near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the detectives revealed that the suspect used a knife and stabbed his elder brother on the 31st March 2024 at about 4 p.m. after an argument between them.

“Both of them became furious with each other and began fighting. Shortly after a mediation, the suspect ran and picked a sharp object, suspected to be a knife, and stabbed the victim in his stomach.

“Further investigations revealed that both men were always fighting using dangerous weapons.”
