The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has demanded a public apology from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) over an Easter advertisement deemed offensive by the Christian body.

FIRS had posted a message on social media implying “Jesus paid your debts, not your taxes,” sparking condemnation from Nigerians, especially Christians.

CAN called on relevant authorities to address the issue and ensure messages promoting unity and peace are upheld.
