Controversial cross dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, admitted to being male during his appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos State on Friday.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro handed down a six-month prison sentence without the option of a fine for Bobrisky’s involvement in the abuse of the naira.

Before delivering the sentence, the judge directly questioned Bobrisky about his gender. In response, Bobrisky swiftly asserted his male identity, stating, “I am a man.”

Judge Awogboro emphasized that the verdict aimed to serve as a deterrent to others who engage in similar acts of currency abuse and mutilation.

The judge ruled that the jail term would commence from March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest.

Bobrisky’s appearance in court comes after his conviction on April 5, following a guilty plea to charges of naira abuse filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Initially scheduled for sentencing on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the court proceedings were postponed due to the Federal Government’s declaration of a public holiday for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
