Nigerian Customs Suspend 12 Officers For Rape, Extortion, Forgery Other Illegal Acts

The Nigerian Customs Service yesterday has suspended 12 of its officers for various illegal acts raging from rape, extortion, presenting fake certificates and so on. In a statement made available to the press, three officers attached to the Currency Declaration desk at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja have been suspended for allegedly extorting $13, 000 during an outward clearance of a passenger on Emirates Airline flight. Two others who are Assistant Superintendents of Customs serving in Seme Command were also suspended for allegedly raping a lady.

So also, two mid-level management officers that are serving in the Ports and five Assistant Comptrollers of Customs serving in Tin Can Island Port, have been suspended for improper release of seizures, while others appeared before a panel for offences ranging from hacking of passwords, falsification of academic certificates, negligence and general indiscipline.
