Dangote Cement Plc has moved swiftly to dispel rumors linking one of its trucks to a tragic collision with a bus on the Okene-Lokoja bypass in Kogi State, resulting in fatalities among bus passengers.

Expressing deep regret over the incident, the company extended condolences to the families of the victims while urging the public to disregard misinformation suggesting its truck was responsible for the fatal accident.

Tony Chiejina, Chief Branding & Communications Officer of Dangote Group, clarified in a statement that thorough investigations conducted by the Transport and Logistics Unit revealed that the truck involved belonged to a third party engaged in cement transportation. He emphasized, “it does not belong to Dangote Cement.”

Chiejina highlighted the stringent measures Dangote Cement has instituted to mitigate road accidents, including regular training for drivers, rigorous truck maintenance, and stringent safety protocols.

In a categorical rebuttal to reports implicating the company in the accident, Dangote Cement emphasized, “We state categorically that the truck laden with cement which was involved in the said crash does not belong to us.”
