Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to implement the federal government’s recently approved salary increase for workers in the state.

He made this promise during the 2024 International Workers’ Day celebration at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, where he was honored with an award as the labor champion of Rivers state and named the most labor-friendly governor.

Governor Fubara acknowledged the critical role workers play in the state’s economic growth and development, stating that they are indispensable to the progress of the state and nation. He reassured workers that his government is committed to implementing the salary increase as soon as the parameters are made available.

The governor also donated N100 million to support workers’ celebrations and reiterated his promise to prioritize workers’ welfare and interests within the limits of available resources.
