The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-ul-Adha celebration. This announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, on Friday.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended congratulations to all Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the diaspora on behalf of the Federal Government. He urged the Muslim community to embrace the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, and to pray for unity, prosperity, and stability in the country.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, had earlier declared Sunday, June 16, as Eid-el-Kabir day, confirming Friday as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

The Federal Government assured citizens of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and encouraged all Nigerians to take responsibility for building a prosperous nation for future generations.
