French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has announced his intention to resign following the outcome of the parliamentary elections, where his party failed to secure a majority. Attal’s resignation will be submitted to President Emmanuel Macron on Monday.

Despite his offer to continue serving until a new government is formed, Attal acknowledged the significance of the election results, which saw the left-wing alliance, Nouveau Front Populaire, win against all odds. In his resignation speech, Attal emphasized the importance of maintaining the “French spirit” and the values of the Republic.

Having become France’s youngest prime minister at 34 in January, Attal’s tenure has come to an end. His resignation paves the way for a new government to be formed, with the upcoming Paris Olympics and NATO summit posing significant challenges for the incoming administration.
