President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Organised Labour on Thursday to conclude discussions on a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. The meeting is expected to finalize the minimum wage proposal, which will then be sent to the National Assembly for passage.

The current minimum wage is ₦30,000, while the government and private sector have proposed ₦62,000 and the Organised Labour is demanding ₦250,000. The President has called for realistic expectations and has directed the Minister of Budget and National Planning to come up with a proposal for an Amendment Act to the 2024 Appropriation Act.

This meeting is the latest in a series of discussions on the minimum wage, following a meeting between the President and Labour leaders.
