The House of Representatives has pledged to donate 50% of their salaries for six months. The decision was made during a plenary session on Thursday, presided over by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu amended the motion, urging his colleagues to sacrifice 50% of their salaries, which amounts to N300,000 per month. This collective contribution will total N108 million monthly and N648 million for the six-month period.

Kalu emphasized that the government is doing its best to address the country’s challenges, but more needs to be done. He encouraged his colleagues to support this gesture, noting that their salaries are N600,000 per month.
