In a tragic incident at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, a 300-level Computer Science student, Naja’atu Salisu, was found unconscious after falling in the bathroom on Friday morning.

Reports indicate that Naja’atu entered the bathroom in the female hostel at the Gubi campus to take a morning shower and prepare for her lectures. She was later discovered lying unconscious on the bathroom floor by her roommates.

“She had completed her usual morning routine and brought out the clothes she intended to wear to class, leaving them beside her bed,” explained one of Naja’atu’s roommates, who wished to remain anonymous.

ATBU spokesperson Zailani Bappa confirmed the incident, stating that Naja’atu was immediately rushed to the university’s clinic for medical attention. However, medical personnel encountered difficulties in finding a vein on her body, complicating their efforts to revive her.

Following the initial medical efforts, Naja’atu was transferred to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Bappa added that Naja’atu has since been buried according to Islamic rites, and prayers have been offered for the repose of her soul.
