President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property damage in several states across the country. In his nationwide address, he specifically mentioned the states of Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, and others, where violent protests have resulted in fatalities and destruction.

“I am especially pained by the loss of lives in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna and other states, the destruction of public facilities in some states, and the wanton looting of supermarkets and shops, contrary to the promise of protest organisers that the protest would be peaceful across the country,” President Tinubu said.

He also commiserated with the families and relations of those who have died in the protests, saying, “We must stop further bloodshed, violence and destruction.” The President promised to ensure that the perpetrators of violence are brought to justice.
