The Nigerian Senate has categorically denied claims that it determines its own salaries or receives special financial packages from the Presidency. Senate Spokesman Yemi Adaramodu described the allegations as an attempt to “crucify the legislature by the centurions of political hypocrisy.”

Adaramodu emphasized that the Senate only receives salaries allocated by the Revenue Mobilisation Fiscal Allocation Commission, in accordance with constitutional provisions. He challenged anyone with credible evidence to present contrary facts, dismissing suggestions that the National Assembly fixes its salaries as “uncharitable and satanic.”

The Senate also clarified that constituency projects are merely suggested and nominated by Senators, following global democratic practices. Adaramodu reassured the public that the 10th Assembly remains committed to upholding Nigeria’s economy and growth, receiving only constitutionally allocated funds and seeking no additional perks.
