Despite eyewitness accounts and media reports of fatalities during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano State, Commissioner of Police Salman-Dogo Garba has claimed that no casualties were recorded.

Garba made this statement during a press conference where suspects arrested in connection with the protests were paraded.

However, reports from sources like Daily Trust had previously reported that at least five persons were killed during the protests, which were hijacked by hoodlums in some instances. Families of the deceased are still mourning their loved ones, who were allegedly killed by bullets during the protest.

Garba highlighted the police command’s achievements in maintaining law and order, including the arrest of 873 suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of exhibits. He also mentioned the arrest and prosecution of suspects for various offenses, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, and arson.

The commissioner reiterated the police command’s commitment to preventing crime and protecting citizens’ rights to peaceful protest.
