The Nigerian Police Force has invited the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, for questioning over alleged terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime, and other related offenses. The invitation letter, dated August 19, 2024, warns that a warrant of arrest will be issued if Ajaero fails to comply.

The police are investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, and subversion, in which Ajaero has been implicated. The NLC has confirmed the invitation and linked it to the recent raid on the union’s headquarters.

The union has criticized the police for the raid and demanded an apology. The NLC has also raised concerns about the police’s allegations, calling them “laughable” and challenging the police to provide proof of any relationship with the alleged criminal.

Ajaero is expected to report to the police on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 hrs prompt, for an interview. The development has raised tensions between the police and the NLC, with the union expressing concerns about the safety of its leadership and members.
