The Edo State Government has announced the indefinite postponement of the resumption of all schools in the state due to increase in fuel price.

The government made this known in a note by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, in Benin, the state capital, on Saturday.

The permanent secretary said the resumption, originally scheduled for September 9, has been postponed until further notice.

“The Edo State Government announces the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, originally scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, until further notice.

“An official statement by the government has ordered that schools remain closed due to the tension caused by the recent increase in fuel prices and the challenges faced by parents and guardians.

“The government calls on parents, guardians to carefully monitor the activities of their children, given the current situation and the growing tension caused by the increase in fuel prices,” Akin-Longe said.
