Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, the renowned Nigerian Islamic singer, is set to be laid to rest today, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State, at noon. The Solatul Janazzah, or Prayer for the Dead, was held earlier in Ojota, Lagos State, and was even streamed live on TikTok.

Her brother, Jubril Gawat, a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, took to his X account to share a heartfelt Quran verse: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return” (Q 2 V 156). This post has garnered an outpouring of condolences and support from followers and associates.

Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was a talented singer known for her captivating voice and inspiring religious music that resonated deeply with the Muslim community. Sadly, she passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, after a brief illness.

May Allah grant her soul peace and comfort her loved ones during this difficult time.
