Senate Confirms Usman as Chairman of Hajj Commission

The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed Professor Abdullahi Usman as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission, Okay.ng reports.

President Bola Tinubu nominated Usman for this position, and the Senate’s confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of the report from the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Usman’s nomination was forwarded by President Tinubu on August 19, 2024, and the request for confirmation was transmitted to the Senate.

Usman’s background in hajj operations, including his previous role as the chairman of Kano State Pilgrim’s Board, was highlighted as a strong qualification for the position.

Following a screening conducted by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Usman’s confirmation was affirmed through a voice vote by the Senate president, GodsWill Akpabio.
