Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, award-winning musician Folarin “Falz” Falana, have issued a 12-hour ultimatum to controversial crossdresser Bobrisky to retract his alleged defamatory statements.
This follows Bobrisky’s claim in a leaked audio, shared by popular social media critic VeryDarkMan, that Falana and Falz approached him seeking N10 million to secure a presidential pardon on his behalf.
The allegation, which quickly went viral across social media, has been firmly denied by both Falana and Falz. In response, the Falanas, through their legal team at Falana and Falana’s Chambers, have issued a cease-and-desist letter dated October 14, 2024, demanding an immediate retraction and public apology from Bobrisky.
The letter, signed by Taiwo E. Olawanle and Olorunfemi Akinyemi, described Bobrisky’s claims as false and damaging to the reputations of the father-son duo.
“We are Counsel to Mr. Femi Falana SAN and Mr. Folarin Falana aka Falz (hereinafter referred to as ‘our clients’), on whose behalf we write this letter regarding your slanderous statements against them,” the letter stated.
The lawyers went on to accuse Bobrisky of attempting to involve Falana and Falz in a fabricated story, allegedly using the claim to extort money from members of the public, including well-known artistes.
“Your decision to involve our client in your criminal activities was purely a figment of your imagination. You never instructed our client to write a letter of pardon for you, contrary to your baseless claims,” the letter continued.
The Falanas demanded a retraction of Bobrisky’s statements, along with a public apology on all platforms where the defamatory claims had been shared. They warned that failure to comply within 12 hours would result in legal action, including pursuing monetary damages for the alleged defamation.
“If we do not receive your formal retraction and apology within 12 hours of your receipt of this letter, we will proceed to pursue legal remedies, including monetary damages, for your malicious defamatory statements,” the letter warned.
