Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has expressed her willingness to conduct a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to determine the paternity of their only son, Liam Aloba.

The decision comes after prolonged disagreements with Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, regarding the necessity of the test.

Mohbad, who died at the age of 27, left behind a son, and his untimely death has sparked widespread controversy and speculation on social media.

The paternity dispute emerged after Joseph Aloba requested a DNA test, which led to a legal standoff between the family and Omowunmi.

Attempts to serve Wunmi with legal documents from the Aloba family’s legal team were reportedly unsuccessful.

As a result, the Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, directed both parties to seek an alternative dispute resolution, which initially failed to resolve the matter.

However, in a recent development, Wunmi agreed to undergo the DNA test after closed-door negotiations between the family’s legal team and her representatives. The family’s legal counsel, Monisola Odumosu, confirmed that both parties had reached a settlement.

According to the terms of the agreement, the DNA test will be conducted at two recognized and accredited medical facilities within Lagos State or another mutually agreed-upon location outside the state. The late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, has agreed to bear all costs associated with the DNA test, including the collection of samples and any legal or administrative fees.

“In the terms filed before the court, the respondent, Wunmi Aloba, consented to submit herself and her son, Master Liam Aloba, for the conduct of a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test,” Odumosu said in a statement.

The court further ordered that the test be supervised by appointed officers to ensure the reliability of the process, with the result expected to bring closure to the ongoing dispute.
