Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed gratitude to the people of the state for renewing his mandate in the 2024 governorship election, promising to serve them diligently.

Speaking to journalists in Akure, the state capital, following his declaration as the winner, Aiyedatiwa assured residents of his commitment to their welfare.

“I thank Ondo for the renewed mandate given to me to be their governor beyond 2025, and I promise to serve them,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, the winner of the election held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Aiyedatiwa secured a landslide victory with 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.

Other contenders included Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), who received 1,162 votes, and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
