Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has identified Osun and Oyo States as strategic targets for his party in upcoming governorship elections.

Ganduje made this declaration on Sunday in Akure, Ondo State, while celebrating the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate in the Ondo governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa the winner after he secured 366,781 votes, defeating Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.

Nejo Adeyemi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, came third with 4,138 votes. Aiyedatiwa won in all 18 local government areas of the state.

Ganduje, flanked by Governors Babagana Zulum of Borno and Hope Uzodimma of Imo, emphasized the APC’s commitment to consolidating its influence in the south-west geo-political zone.

“Our next target now is this geo-political zone, the south-west geo-political zone,” Ganduje said. “You know we are good at getting the target. We will do all that is possible to bring them into the fold.”

The next Osun governorship election is scheduled for 2026, while Oyo’s governorship contest will follow in 2027.
