People love being around someone that can handle conflicts in relationships, without letting it get out of hand. Here are few tips you can apply, as conflicts arise in your relationship.

1. Communicate clearly. Do not assume your partner understands you. Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. Every time you communicate, please make sure you and your partner are on the same page.

2. Listen attentively to your partner’s concerns. Do not brush them off as insignificant. Listening involves your body language. Do not give out an aura that says “I am really getting bored right now” That will build resentment.

3. Do not be defensive. Be open to corrections and do not always assume you are right.

4. Always be ready to accept your mistakes and apologise when you are wrong.

5. Clearly state that you respect and love your partner even if you are on different pages on a matter. You are actually seeing the same thing from different points of view.

6. Never accuse your partner. Do not call names.

7. Put yourself in their shoes and try to understand their point of view on the issue. It will help you appreciate them more.
