The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Enema Paul, has died after a brief illness.

He passed away in a private hospital in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday.

Hon. Paul, who was a serving member of the 8th Kogi State Assembly, represented the Okura State Constituency before his untimely demise.

His death follows a period of health challenges that led him to step down as Deputy Speaker. He was succeeded in the role by Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, representing the Ibaji State Constituency.

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the late lawmaker as a dedicated public servant and a unifier committed to the state’s development.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, Rt. Hon. Yusuf said, “The late Hon. Enema Paul was a friend, temperate, humble, a team player, and a committed legislator who demonstrated a genuine desire to enhance pro-people legislation for the overall development of Kogi State.”

He added that the deceased was “a devoted Christian who transcended religious boundaries and exemplified godliness and strong family values.”

The Speaker extended his condolences to the family of the late lawmaker, the current Assembly members, and members of the 7th Assembly, praying for strength and fortitude to bear the significant loss.
