The Governing Council of the University of Abuja has appointed Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the institution’s seventh substantive Vice-Chancellor.
The announcement was made during the university’s 77th Extraordinary Council Meeting, held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, according to a statement issued by Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations.
Professor Maikudi, aged 41, previously served as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and emerged as the top candidate among 10 shortlisted by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
Her appointment was finalized following a rigorous selection process in line with the university’s regulations.
“The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, under the chairmanship of Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd), has approved the appointment of Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University,” the statement read.
“The appointment takes effect from 1st January 2025, for a non-renewable tenure of five years.”
