Bauchi Governor Announces Death of Stepmother, Hajia Hauwa Muhammadu Duguri, at 120

Hajia Hauwa Muhammadu Duguri, stepmother to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has passed away at the remarkable age of 120.

The governor announced her death through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, in a statement released on Wednesday.

The statement described the late Hajia Hauwa as a woman of selflessness and piety, whose life was dedicated to community service and making a positive impact on those around her. She passed away on January 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion.

“Her passing marks the end of an era defined by selflessness, piety, and unwavering dedication to community service, which she exemplified throughout her long and impactful life,” the statement read.

The funeral prayer (Janazah) is scheduled to take place at 4:00 pm at Dr. Rilwan Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed expressed heartfelt condolences to the Duguri family and all those who were privileged to know Hajia Hauwa. He urged everyone to join him in praying for her soul’s repose and to uphold her legacy.

“May Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and bestow strength upon her family to bear this profound loss,” the governor said.
