Aspiring attorneys have been forewarned by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that admission to eight Nigerian institutions’ legal programs is essentially suspended. This extreme action comes after the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the regulatory organisation in charge of maintaining the standard of legal education in the nation, suspended it.
The CLE has prohibited these universities from accepting new students into their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programs due to regulatory procedure infractions. Both potential students and the universities themselves have been impacted by this decision, which has rocked the academic community
“Following the suspension of their law programmes by the Council of Legal Education (CLE), these universities will not be permitted to admit new students into their law faculties,” confirmed Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, in a statement released on Wednesday.
The institutions facing JAMB Law Admission Suspension include Kwara State University, Bingham University, Redeemers University, Western Delta University, Taraba State University, Arthur Jarvis University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, and the Nigerian Police Academy.
