The Lagos State Government has deployed four new Intelligent Transport System (ITS) sites at key locations across the state in a bid to improve road safety and enhance traffic management.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, made the announcement on Thursday during a press briefing in Lagos.

He noted that the installations were carried out in collaboration with Huawei Technologies and are designed to complement the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and other Traffic Management Solution (TMS) devices already in use.

Osiyemi disclosed that checkpoint sites for speed monitoring have been installed at:
Alapere, Ogudu Road (80 km/h speed limit)
NITEL, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way (60 km/h speed limit)

Additionally, E-police sites equipped with high-definition cameras to detect traffic violations were installed at:
Allen Avenue Junction, Ikeja
Nurudeen Olowopopo Road

According to Osiyemi, the digital installations will significantly reduce reckless driving and ensure efficient traffic flow through real-time monitoring.

“These checkpoint sites are strategically located to detect and deter cases of speeding, which remains one of the leading causes of road accidents,” he said.

The commissioner added that e-police sites will monitor violations such as running red lights and illegal U-turns, warning that offenders will be sanctioned.

Penalties for Traffic Violations:
Running a red light₦20,000 fine
Speed limit violation₦50,000 fine
