Governor Abdullahi Sule has dissolved the Nasarawa State Executive Council and sworn in the immediate-past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Magaji, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital. Governor Sule explained that the decision to make changes within his administration was driven by the need to enhance service delivery to the people of Nasarawa State.

“I’m happy to address you today on the occasion of the swearing-in of the new Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State,” the governor said.

He noted that the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the appointment of a new SSG were aimed at injecting fresh perspectives and capacity into the administration.

“This was done to bring in new hands that would bring new perspectives into the system to enhance our capacity in the delivery of service for the progress and development of our dear state,” Sule added.

The governor described the office of the SSG as the engine-room and cornerstone of government activities, requiring someone with extensive knowledge of governance. He emphasized that Magaji’s vast experience in public service made him an ideal choice for the role.

“As you are aware, Barr. Labaran Magaji is a legal luminary, a reputable technocrat with global experience and an unassuming politician who served the state and Nigeria in various capacities. His contributions to our administration and ‘Project Nasarawa’ are legendary,” the governor said.

Sule expressed confidence in Magaji’s ability to perform, citing his loyalty, proven excellence, and dedication to the development of the state.

“I’m convinced that with his antecedents, loyalty, and proven performance of excellence; he will be able to confidently serve this administration,” he noted.

Governor Sule also extended his appreciation to the former SSG, Muhammad Aliyu, and the dissolved executive council members for their commitment and contributions to the state’s growth during their tenure.

In his vote of thanks, Magaji pledged his loyalty to the governor and the state government. He expressed his readiness to hit the ground running and ensure the administration’s vision of transforming Nasarawa State becomes a reality.
