Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed Lagos State civil servants to resume the regular Monday to Friday work schedule, bringing an end to the flexible work arrangement introduced nearly a year ago.

The directive was announced in a circular released on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, by the Office of the Head of Service (HoS), Bode Agoro. The new order takes effect from March 31, 2025.

In February 2024, the Lagos State Government introduced a work-from-home initiative to cushion the impact of economic hardship following the removal of petrol subsidy by the Federal Government.

Under the arrangement, junior staff were required to report to the office for only two days a week, while working from home for the remaining days. However, senior staff continued to report to work daily.

With the introduction of the new minimum wage and other welfare measures by the state government, the initiative has now been discontinued.

The circular from the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, titled: “Cancellation of the Work from Home Initiative in the Lagos State Public Service,” states:

“Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the State Public Service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of Public Servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the cancellation of the work from home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service.”

“To this end, cancellation of the work-from-home initiative which had been in place since February 2024 will take effect from 31st March 2025.”

The circular urged public servants to fully rededicate themselves to their duties and ensure improved service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
