Tambuwal Criticizes APC, Accuses Tinubu’s Govt of Propaganda Reliance

In a recent statement, former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has leveled sharp criticisms against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He accuses the party of employing coercion, propaganda, and leveraging economic hardships to induce defections from opposition parties, thereby diverting attention from Nigeria’s escalating crises.

Tambuwal’s remarks come in response to statements made by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who dismissed concerns over recent political defections as unfounded.

Contrary to Morka’s assertions, Tambuwal contends that the influx of politicians into the APC is not motivated by genuine ideological alignment but rather by desperation stemming from severe economic challenges attributed to the ruling party’s ineffective policies.

“The APC aims to mislead Nigerians into believing that these defections signify good governance. In reality, under this administration, life has become unbearable—marked by soaring inflation, escalating insecurity, and rising unemployment. Nigerians recognize that the APC thrives on propaganda, not performance,” Tambuwal stated.

He further cautioned that the APC’s strategies of intimidation and inducement pose significant threats to democratic values, suggesting that such tactics lay the groundwork for a one-party authoritarian regime.

“APC leaders have abandoned governance and now focus on deploying stomach infrastructure to lure struggling politicians. This is not democracy — it is survival politics,” he added.

Tambuwal, who was instrumental in the formation of the APC during his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed disappointment that the party has deviated from its founding principles, succumbing to the influence of self-serving individuals indifferent to the populace’s welfare.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, emphasizing that the nation stands at a critical juncture requiring decisive action to reclaim governance from those who have transformed it into a tool for personal gain.

“The APC should stop attacking those who speak the truth and focus on fixing the mess they have created. Nigeria needs real leadership, not a party that weaponizes hunger and hardship to retain power,” Tambuwal asserted.
