In a move to strengthen the healthcare system and improve job security, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the regularization and absorption of 415 temporary health workers into the state’s pensionable workforce.

During the official regularization exercise held at the Staff Development Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the Permanent Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, Olayinka Elemide, expressed gratitude to the governor for his commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers.

“This kind of regularization exercise is unprecedented in the history of the state,” Elemide stated. “On behalf of the Hospitals Management Board and the 415 locum hospital workers, I want to thank the governor for his large heart and kind consideration as a loving father of the workers in the state.”

She highlighted that these health workers had been serving in various capacities for some time, and their formal absorption into the system would not only provide them with job security but also boost morale and enhance service delivery, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes across the state.

Addressing the newly integrated staff, she urged them to reciprocate the state government’s gesture with dedication and commitment to their roles.

“I charge you, as beneficiaries of the governor’s magnanimity, to redouble your dedication and service delivery in line with the present administration’s commitment to quality healthcare,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of the newly absorbed workers, Mr. Sanni Akanni and Mr. Geminiyi Jacob, from General Hospitals in Imeko/Afon and Atan respectively, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s decision. They pledged to remain diligent, productive, and committed to providing excellent healthcare services.

The formal integration process included a thorough verification of documents and certificates by officers from the Bureau of Establishment and Training, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Fajohunbo, ensuring compliance with the civil service regulations.

This development not only secures the future of the affected healthcare workers but also reinforces Ogun State’s commitment to improving the healthcare sector through motivated and well-supported personnel.
